For 25 years, Managing Automation has been providing information to manufacturers to help them run their businesses better. Through reporting, analysis, and the presentation of often differing viewpoints, this publication has striven to write what has been called in journalistic circles the first draft of history—in our case, of course, the history of industrial automation.
In that effort, we have sought to hold up a mirror to industry so it can see itself thoroughly and accurately at any point in time. We have sought to be an early warning system for important trends and developments, for new thinking, and new practices. In the realm of technology, the mainstay of this publication, we have sought to uncover the possibilities, to fearlessly explain the challenges and to provide a broad managerial context for successful adoption and usage.
Simply put, we have tried to help you visualize a better future.
Over the years, we have changed how we have done this. As technology opened up more possibilities and as readers have embraced them, MA evolved. In October 1996, MA launched its first Website featuring industry news, selected articles from the magazine, and an innovative Forum section for people to exchange ideas and information. As digital editions of our print publication became possible, we provided them. And as Webcasts and podcasts became popular, we offered those, too.
